About The Flavor Plugg
My love for cooking started when I was five years old, watching my Nana in the kitchen. She made the best gumbo, along with so many Creole recipes that filled her house with amazing smells. Some of my favorite memories are standing next to her, watching her cook and asking a million questions. That's where my love for food began. It wasn't only about eating. It was about the people, the stories, the laughter, and the memories made around the table.
By the time I was eight, all I wanted for Christmas was cooking stuff. Pots, pans, baking supplies, anything that meant I got to spend more time in the kitchen. While other kids were asking for toys, I was asking for things to cook with. Looking back, I think everyone around me already knew cooking was going to be a big part of my life.
From the time I was five until I was twelve, I went to Young Chef Academy. That's where I learned the basics, built my confidence, and fell even more in love with cooking. Every time I completed a new level, I earned another patch, and I couldn't wait to keep learning. At home, I was always in the kitchen trying new recipes, flipping through cookbooks, or making up my own meals just for fun. Cooking never felt like something I had to do. It was what I wanted to do.
As I got older, I entered the Culinary Arts program through my high school's Career Center, where I gained even more hands on experience and continued building my skills in the kitchen. After that, I earned my Bachelor's degree in Hospitality and Food Management because I wanted to learn not only how to cook, but how to build something of my own.
For years, my family and friends kept telling me I should sell my food. I always brushed it off because I was scared. I kept wondering if people would actually buy from me or if I was good enough. Eventually, I realized fear was the only thing standing in my way. I trusted God, took a leap of faith, and started The Flavor Plugg.
I came up with the name The Flavor Plugg because I wanted to do more than serve great food. I wanted to connect people to flavor. To me, being "plugged in" means giving people an experience they'll remember, introducing them to bold flavors, and bringing people together through food. Whether it's a family dinner, meal prep, a wedding, or a private dinner, my goal is to connect people through meals that leave a lasting impression.
Today, that's what The Flavor Plugg is all about. Whether I'm preparing weekly meal prep, catering an event, or creating a private dining experience, my goal is always the same. I want every meal to bring people together, create memories, and leave people feeling cared for.
Welcome to The Flavor House. I'm so glad you're here.
